Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is one of those few really great airlines, always a save choice for a pleasant flight. The Hongkong based carrier hase been one of my favourites for years, I use to skip other carrier’s earlier flights and rather wait a few hours to get on a Cathay Pacific flight when business takes me to hongkong. By the way waiting is not a punishment as Cathay’s business and first class lounges are superb, with really nice asian meals and snacks, great choice of drinks, comfy seating, internet, clean showers and lots more. The airline celebrates it’s sixtiest birthday this year and Cathay Pacific is one of the five airlines to carry a "five star" rating from Skytrax besides Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines.

Cathay Pacific has a three class cabin layout

First Class

Cathay Pacific is in the process of upgrading all of their three cabin classes. The new First Class looks very impressive, although i didn’t get the chance to sample it yet. For example luxury seats with built in massage function, that convert easily to become a 36” x 81” bed, and is believed to be the largest provided on any commercial airline. The luxury ’suites’ in First Class promise an increased level of privacy, ambience and convenience. Special panelling creates spacious individual cocoons. The new design is one of luxury, with a range of features designed to make long-haul travel a pleasure. A large fully adjustable 17” 16:9 personal TV screen offers cinematic viewing at any angle. Other innovative features are a personal closet, and an ottoman that doubles as a guest seat. Combined with Cathay’s already fantastic inflight service, Cathay Pacific will be another serious competitor for the best First Class award.

Business Class

Cathay Pacific’s new Business Class cabin will redefine long-haul business travel, offering comfort and privacy whether you are working or relaxing in flight. Individual space is enhanced by moulded partitions and a new seating configuration which allows unrestricted aisle access from each seat.

•The new luxury seat transforms into a fully flat bed, 6 feet, 6 inches and 23.5 inches wide (or 17 inches wide with armrest down), for a more restful sleep on long-haul flights. •Adjust the angle of the seat, leg-rest and footrest and enjoy four-way lumbar support and a relaxing massage, all at the touch of a button. Ergonomically tested foam ensures extra comfort in any position. • More personel storage room • A large 15" 16:9 personal TV screen and the Audio Video On Demand function lets you watch what you want, when you want. The integrated handset doubles as a personal phone. • Personal noise cancelling headset. And ofcourse the most important feature is Cathay’s brilliant inflight service, delicious meals and beautiful choice of wines and drinks and the warm attention of a devoted cabin crew. To me the personal touch is more important than the gadgets and it’s simply perfect when an airline combines the two of them.
