KLM founded in 1919 is the worlds oldest airline, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It operates domestic and worldwide scheduled passenger and cargo services to over 90 destinations. I love flying KLM because of it’s main base Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Schiplhol is well known for it’s easy hassle-free transfers, a nice, clean and spacious airport, no stress during transfers is a travellers blessing. Schiphol has been voted best European airport for several times and has contributed a lot to KLM’s success.

Air France merged with KLM in May 2004, resulting in the creation of Air France-KLM. Air France-KLM is the largest airline company in the world in terms of operating revenues, and the third largest in the world (largest in Europe) in terms of revenue-passenger-kilometres (RPKs). Both Air France and KLM continue to fly under their distinct brand names. Air France-KLM is part of the SkyTeam Alliance with Delta Air Lines, Aeroméxico, Korean Air, CzechAirlines, Alitalia, Northwest Airlines, Aeroflot and Continental Airlines.

KLM operates a two class cabin layout.

KLM Intercontinental Economy Class. You can reserve in advance to ensure you get the seat (seat pitch 31”) you prefer. You’ll also have a selection of international newspapers to choose from. Shortly before arrival, you’ll see up-to-the-minute flight transfer information.

KLM Economy Class Within Europe. KLM offers various fares in KLM Economy Class. This way, you can decide for yourself about the right combination of flexibility (“Economy Flex Fare”) and affordability (“Take Off Fare”). Depending on your European destination, you can choose from an “Economy Flex Fare” that gives you partial or total flexibility in changing or cancelling your trip, or a “Take Off Fare” – the best choice for the price-conscious passenger. Special offers are also made available as “Take Off Fares”. As you would expect, the earlier you book, the better chance you have for the lowest fare. KLM is continuously working on improving onboard products and services in KLM Economy Class. The catering, for example, places a high priority on freshness and quality: high-quality, freshly prepared sandwiches – made that very day – are served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you can choose from a wide array of beverages.
